Secretary of State Ciamba, Minister Stier discuss stage of Romanian-Croatian relations

The stage of the Romanian-Croatian relations, the regional agenda and the cooperation on a European level were the topics tackled on Friday during the meeting Romanian Secretary of State for Bilateral and Strategic relations in the Euro-Atlantic Space with the Foreign Ministry George Ciamba had with Deputy PM and Foreign and European Affairs Minister of Croatia Davor Stier, on the occasion of the participation in the informal meeting of SEECP foreign ministers, according to a release the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE).

During the talks, the two speakers underscored the opinion convergence on topical matters, as well as the need for a close coordination on common interest themes, in the context of the debates on the future of the European construction, and the global strategic challenges, the release points out.

"The Romanian Secretary of State highlighted the prospects for intensifying the high-level political dialogue, including in the context of celebrating this year 25 years of diplomatic ties, and mentioned the potential of the bilateral cooperation development in various areas, taking into account the complementarity of the two economies. In respect to the South-Eastern Europe developments, the Romanian official reconfirmed Romania's interest in the stability of the region and reiterated the firm support for continuing the modernisation processes in the Western Balkans, in view to promoting on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration," the release shows.

At the same time, the Romanian diplomat voiced, in the context of Croatia's exercising the SEECP chairmanship-in-office, Romania's support for the set priorities, with a focus on connectivity, communication and cooperation (3C) and underscored the need to synchronize regional cooperation with the European agenda.

"Both sides agreed on the importance of consolidating the European project and promoting some inclusive formats, meant to guarantee the unity and cohesion in the EU, according to the treaties, underscoring the majority pro-European orientation of the population in the two states, as an essential factor in the current European context," the release also reads.
